Personal profile

I teach, research, and promote philosophical and religious education. I regularly act as a consultant and invited speaker across third sector, educational and faith community organisations. My intellectual journey began when I read Leo Tolstoy's writings on education and religion. This is the subject of my monograph, published in the Bloomsbury Library of Educational Thought. 

I have been the recipient of the Carmen Blacker Prize for the Study of Religion (Somerville College, Oxford 2012); a Boursier d'excellence (University of Geneva, Switzerland, 2013); a Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain Large Grant Award, 2012; and an Economic and Social Research Council +1 Doctoral Fellowship.
